Provider spotlight: Dr. Kyoko Abe
When it comes to dedication and relentless hard work, one name stands out in our oral health community: Dr. Kyoko Abe. Her 30 years of extensive knowledge comes from a variety of education and training. After graduating from dental school in Hokkaido, Japan in 1984, she then enrolled in the Oral Maxillofacial Surgery department at Sapporo Medical School. She continued her training in Tokyo by focusing on medically compromised patients.
Dr. Abe moved to the United States and continued her training in Periodontology at OHSU. After obtaining her degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine, Dr Abe followed that up with a Dental Anesthesiology residency at MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland, Ohio. In 1997, Dr. Abe returned to Portland and spent the following seven years working for two local providers. In 2005, she opened her own private practice, Abe Dental, in SW Portland.
Dr. Abe finds it truly rewarding to use her knowledge and skills to care for and improve the oral health of all her patients. During her free time, she likes to watch movies, work out, search for good food and restaurants, listen to music and podcasts and watch the Portland Trail Blazers.
If you know Dr. Abe, you would agree that she is truly one of the hardest working and talented people you will ever encounter.
