HRSN Housing benefit launched on 11/1!
As part of the state’s 1115 waiver, Oregon was approved to offer the Health-Related Social Needs (HRSN) benefit to provide nutrition services, housing supports, and climate devices to OHP members experiencing an eligible life transition. These services are rolling out in phases-- climate supports began this spring, the housing benefit went live on November 1, and the nutrition benefit will launch on January 1, 2025.
What will the new HRSN Housing benefit provide for our members?
The new benefit is designed to help eligible members who are currently housed but who are at risk of homelessness and have a qualifying clinical health need. Housing supports include:
- Rental assistance (e.g., rental payments, deposits, utility assistance) for up to 6 months
- Home modifications (e.g., ramps, handrails, environmental remediation)
- Tenancy support services (e.g. eviction prevention, housing case management)
What will change for our members and our partners?
Starting on November 1, members requesting housing and climate services can fill out a request form that will create a referral in the Unite Us platform. Members will be asked a few new questions that will help us match them with services and funding that can best meet their needs, and someone will reach out to them to confirm their eligibility. Members who are authorized to receive housing support through HRSN will be connected with community organizations that have been contracted to provide services.
